After MONTHS of waiting for the new season of Harlem to air on Amazon Prime, Iβm happy to say we are so back!

At first, I was alittle skeptical about this show because most black series are usually done before they begin to get into the meat and the potaytaz and itβs fucking stupid. As a writer, Iβm so happy to see black women on screen expressing elements of femininity, passions/hobbies, careers, friendship, dating, fashion, and the fact that this is all taking place in my hometown? Yeah, Harlem was a great addition to what we know as βblack friendship groupβ series.

This episode was filled with lots of transformations through all of the cast and it was very telling of how women can easily evolve. I love how theyβre able to display fun, yet intentional lifestyles that are all so different. Angie, played by Shoniqua Shandai is getting married! Her going from the βLynnβ archetype from another black classic that we all love, Girlfriends, to wifey is beautiful to see. Iβll never forget her stride to become thee actress that sheβs always dreamed of being. The conversation with her fiance where he mentioned wanting a simple wedding meanwhile she was NOT having that lol. Iβm currently in my wedding planning era as well so that conversation hit home but thatβs neither here or there chile. All I can say is, you KNOW sheβs about to put on a whole production especially with her hubby also being a theatre kid too! Sheβs always a ray of sunshine yet so full of herself and Iβm so happy she found her person in the midst of being her authentic self and exploring her passion, well done gworl!

Camille, played by Meagan Good, decided to choose herself after not being offered tenure at Columbia after putting in so much work as an anthropologist. Honestly, sometimes you truly have to just say fuck this job and utilize the skills that it has taught you somewhere else. Itβs a very noble decision and she handled it very well as she gained a new found respect from her boss Dr. Elise played by, Whoopi Goldberg. Who also displayed some growth as well, now sheβs open to hugs.

Quinn, my Caribbean gyal, played by Grace Byers, you have grown so much girly. First of all, I always knew you were my cancerian sistuh so thank you for confirming my speculation. I love how you evolve every season and for the better! Your business is booming and you have a man that supports you and makes you feel like a sexy ass b*tch, YASSSSS!

Moving on to Miss. Steal Yo Girl herself, Tye played by Jerrie Johnson, who decided to take the high road and choose celibacy within this season of her life. She got into some SHIT last season so I donβt blame her. Sometimes you have to put your pussy in your BACK pocket and take a chill pill. After realizing she was fuckin on every lesbian in Harlem AND their daughters, she had to self reflect about her lifestyle choices. This also made me realize that sex can be so great but when itβs easy for you to get it, sometimes you also grow to lack discipline.

Speaking of discipline, Iβm not done with Camille ass because after this episode I want to take away her phone and manage her p*ssy myself because she has a case of PPM. Camille is the girl that is incredibly smart yet so dumb at the same time. I know as women we have ALL crashed out over a man, so actually you know what β¦ Iβm not the one to talk. Iβm just happy that she has REAL friends, because we all been there done that lol.

Ian is absolute trash always been, always will be. Iβm not shocked that he was able to play in Camilleβs face even after doing the β we fuck, but no titles neededβ thing. I just want women to know: this dynamic only benefits the man because he can easily say β we not even togetherβ and honestly if anyone plays with my mind or body like that everybody is getting slapped because HUH?! Also, Camille had me crying when she showed up to his house after she texted and called him relentlessly and topped it off by sending a clit pic which he just gave her a thumbs up via text, tragic omg.

But girl, he got you PREGNANT? I wonder if theyβre going to lean into a termination storyline for her or her actually going through with the pregnancy. We will see within the next episode of Harlem but with Angie being in her bridal era, Quinn showing up as her higher self, Tye keeping her kewchie to herself, and Camille possibly being with child, this season is juicy and fully loaded with love, bonding, trust, REAL FRIENDSHIP!

I look forward to sharing my thoughts on episode 2 of Harlem on Prime. If you enjoy commentary like this, or youβre also enjoying this series, like, comment and share this with a friend! β‘
